Impetigo is characterized by blisters and honey-colored crust on the skin.
It can affect skin anywhere on the body, but is most common around the nose and mouth.
Impetigo is contagious. It can spread from one area of the body to another, as well as through clothing, towels, bed sheets, etc. of an infected person, or through direct contact.
How to Protect Yourself from Impetigo?
You can help prevent impetigo by following good hygiene practices when caring for your child's skin.
The disease can spread more quickly when the skin barrier is broken. Therefore, it is important to treat cuts, scrapes, insect bites, eczema and rashes early and appropriately.
It is appropriate to keep your child's nails short.
Treatment of Impetigo
In mild cases, a topical antibiotic cream can be used. However, if the number of lesions is large and the lesions are located on different areas of the body, oral antibiotics should be added to the treatment.
It is appropriate to gently wash infected skin areas with antibacterial soap every day.
To prevent impetigo from spreading to other parts of the body, it is appropriate to cover the wound areas with gauze.
